Household Goods/Clothing

The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the average person throws away 70 pounds of clothing a year.  That adds up to 3.8 billion pounds of unnecessary waste being added to our landfills.

Residents can recycle household items and clothing by dropping items off at the City’s recycling center in the USAgain drop box or by filling orange plastic bags from Simple Recycling and placing them at the curb on recycling day for pick-up.

Acceptable items for USAgain are:

  • Adult & children’s clothing
  • Boots, sandals, socks, tennis & leather shoes
  • Hats, handbags, gloves, belts,
  • Scarves, backpacks
  • Sheets, comforters, pillowcases, blankets, towels, drapes

Acceptable items for the Simple Recycling curbside program are:

  • Men, Women's & Children’s Clothing
  • Coats and Jackets
  • Shoes, Purses, Hats, Jewelry
  • Toys

Recyclable items can be placed in the orange bags provided by Simple Recycling and placed near the curb by 7:00 a.m., at least three feet from your recycling and garbage containers, on your recycling pick-up day.  Upon pick-up, Simple Recycling will supply homeowners with more orange bags to continue participating in the program. There is no charge for this service and no registration is required.
